Why I Am Starting A Blog in 2026.

* I Guess You Can Call this an Internet (Re)introduction

Why are you starting a blog in 2026?

I volunteer my free time to a monthly newsletter under a psuedo-pseudonym for what has now been the past four-ish years of my life... Quite honestly, those who pieced together that it was me behind the paragraphs, resources and general tone, suggested that I start my own blog.

Have I considered making those monthly newsletters more easily accessible to the general public?

Yes.

Can I go against organization they are under by doing that?

…Honestly, I am not 100% sure and need to investigate that.

(Especially since some issues have already "breached containment" and spread around the country.)

Why are you starting a blog in 2026?

I miss tumblr, specifically, I miss pre-2019 Great Purge tumblr where I said a panicked goodbye to seven years of my digital self. Goodbye university and post-grad years! I have thrown around the idea of going back, but after years of “hmming” and “haaing” I am not certain I would fit back into the new ecosystem as easily as I did when I first signed up for tumblr back in 2012. I’m no longer that same person.

I loved twitter and bluesky. Keyword: loved. Both platforms became less of me screaming into the bowels of the internet and having someone reach out to connect through a like/comment/repost to the equivalent of me screaming in a nearby field I rode to and being shocked when no one was there to hear me.

And instagram.... Well, I joined instagram later than most people my age who grew up as the internet “grew up” (or became a horrible juxtaposition of what it once was). Despite my instagram being private (like most of my social media), when it comes to posting anything there it feels like I am walking through a hostile environment that simmers, threatening to overflow on or off of the platform. Shareability has become a surveillance tool, that feeds an ever-looming AI monster.

Why are you starting a blog in 2026?

I want somewhere to share my thoughts that isn’t my:

I want someone out there to read these thoughts and have some sort of feeling to what I’m saying. I want people to reach out with their ideas, thoughts or responses to what it means to be living through yet another historical event

Why are you starting a blog in 2026?

If you didn’t get the vibe earlier, I loathe generative AI and I am horrified at the state of our world. I feel like everywhere I turn there is a certain degree of numbness and complacency that people are unwilling to admit they have succumbed to due to the state of technology.

Where do all our artists go as the world begins to end?

Can we find anywhere to flee to as the world(s) we once knew comes crumbling down?

Is there anyone out there in the last remnants of the human web that wants to… Talk to me?

Why are you starting a blog in 2026?

The deeper reason I believe is that I am an inherently lonely person.

I was a child who took refuge in the recesses of the internet when the going got tough offline, and admired the unique people I met on here. Those people inspired me to share my own thoughts, ideas and work online and developed what once were my online sanctuaries. Thankfully, the usernames of a childhood past have (hopefully) been lost to the depths of internet history, but I know a couple have survived.

Since my creative work seems to not be reaching anyone anymore unless you are:

I wanted to at least try to archive my thoughts, feelings and ideas in a place that will not succumb to the current state of the internet. I am aware that everything on the world wide web is at risk of AI scraping (ew) and nothing is truly safe from evil cooperations (double ew).

That’s why I am here. I want to find a way to share my thoughts out into the vastness of the interwebs and hopefully hear something, anything back… Think of this blog as digital messages in bottles I'm throwing into the internet ocean as we collectively continue deeper into this great unknown of life both on and offline.

I hope you check in whenever you remember or feel ready to see my entries as they slowly come to life here (I have a lot of ideas percolating).

I hope you stick around to see what happens next (my friends have dubbed me a “yapper” so maybe you’ll get that feeling too).

I hope you enjoy this scrappy little blog enough to maybe share a message to say that you were here (once I figure that piece out), that you heard me, and share what stuck with someone you know in your orbit that would like these entries too.
